Melinda studied painting and drawing at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art in a classic atelier style with a strong basis in composition, and traditional figure and portrait. She continues to study figure and portrait drawing and painting and has developed a love of alla prima painting especially in works of landscape and still life. Most often working to capture a gesture and a magic that she feels happens when we paint beautiful things onto canvas to capture a moment or a thought.

Melinda has lived both in England and Japan with her husband Bruce and 3 children. They lived in the Bucks County, PA area for 20 years where she studied and participated with artists groups and shows there. They now live in Michigan and spend many months of each year traveling, attending plein air events or at least painting everywhere at most every stop around the country. She is an active member of the Grand Valley Artists in Grand Rapids, MI and the American Impressionist Society.

Melinda has been honored in many local shows, clubs and painting exhibitions and continues to teach and study with many of today’s contemporary masters.
